Remixed in less than 72 hours
I guess this is Reason 3 why I love the internet. No sooner has someone shared content that is considered 'good' (enjoys viral redcommendation) does someone else come along and remix it in their own way. Sometimes as in this case they make it better and more enjoyable. In this video an unfortunate accident metamorphoses into something that many might actually regard as funny...however guiltily. No other medium i can think of enjoys such a compressed route to market nor is there another medium that members of the public can control quite so directly
The original video is currently on about 1.8m views whereas this one uploaded only 3 days later is on around 200k views and climbing. Although the remix version rarely enjoys the same level of popularity it does clearly serve to lengthen the average life expectancy of an online viral clip. It begs the question in my mind of whether or we as agencies should recommend the client reserves a little money to produce an adjusted version of the first clip if it does take off in the way hoped/expected?
