Wednesday morning thoughts

I've been active on Facebook for about 24 hours now and I officially have 12 friends. My question is whether Facebook is the new Panini football sticker, or Pog, or Tazo for that matter. There seems an obsession to gather and collect my friends in the real world until I have them as a complete set in my virtual world. Funnier still is the impending realisation that having collected all my friends inside Facebook I then have no use/need or interest in them. It's a kind of "so now what do I do with them?" type thought. Will my Facebook profile be relegated to a dusty shelf of my digital world just like my football stickers once were?

One more thing. My old CD Andy Sandoz gave a talk at the D&AD the other day cbout the development of digital agencies. More impressively he did it via the medium of 80s dance films. You can watch his delightful little film below

And now I find your blog. After reading your thoughts on Facebook, i tend to agree with the sticker album philosophy, so what if you could then swap a friend with another of your friends friend. Might be a nice 'get to know other people' device.

Once you begin to really use Facebook though it becomes more of a second email system but with pictures. It's also a very voyeuristic way of seeing what other people are up to.

Hope you're well mate.
